Motorcycle Engine Builder Follows the X-Wedge Path

Some leading motorcycle engine builders and designers will be using the new X-Wedge engine in their two-wheel power creations.

S & S Cycle, a leader in engine design and originality, announced the project--dubbed Project X--and approached Bourget with the concept.

The collaboration will likely help define Bourget Bike Works as the continuous leader in pushing past the limit of how much a motorcycle can be modified.

Bourget is one of five motorcycle builders involved in the engine design project. At bike shows around the country, Bourget Bike Works will be featuring bikes made with the new engine. In an industry with only a few major motorcycle companies making this kind of revolutionary changes in their products, Bourget’s Bike Works was the place to go.

The BBW Limo Python X-Wedge features a combination of new S & S Technology and BBW quality and reliability. Starting with the S & S 117 Cubic Inch X-Wedge engine, ignition and VFI ignition, the Limo Python holds together with a BBW chassis and exhaust system. The suspension is a BBW rear rigid and front springer, delivering a smooth ride unlike anything else out there. The engine design features three belt driven cams—two exhaust and one common intake—S&S closed-loop fuel injection, five studs per cylinder, plain bearings, wedge-shaped combustion chambers, automotive-style rockers, one-piece forged crank and overhead valves And of course, what is a Bourget without the traditional BBW seat, making the Limo Python a combination of new technology and old school design..

With federal Environmental Protection Agency emissions restrictions becoming more and more stringent, S&S Cycle looked to the future and designed a new OE specific engine in line with environmental expectations. This next generation V-twin system is a departure from S&S' traditional engine design and a step toward the future.
